Making the Most out of Setbacks

Setbacks, they are always unpleasant. They also often have a habit of happening at the most unfortunate times. Knocking you flat on your back, taking you by surprise and causing a great deal of pain in the process.

Then can occur in many places in life. Maybe its losing a job or failing an interview. Maybe it is being rejected by a potential partner, or going though a rough break up. It could be getting physically injured or going though difficult mental troubles. In short setbacks can happen in almost any part of your life. In life they are also unavoidable, while you can avoid some setbacks though wisdom and practice it is impossible to avoid them all.

But setbacks are not the end. We must fall occasionally in life learn how to be able to pick ourselves back up again, and move forward with the confidence that we can survive setbacks. A confidence only gained though living though some of them, you can only truly know how strong you are by being put to the test.

Setbacks allow you to learn more and grow stronger. Regardless how unpleasant that process can be, with all the associated growing pains. They allow you to see your own weaknesses and flaws, which may have led to it. Things that we all have, but often do not want to see unless we are made to. However, this allows you to learn and grow, as you cannot improve what you cannot see.

Setbacks can also break you from the tunnel vision that can often happen in life. When you are so very focused on one thing, that it becomes all to easy to miss other avenues of opportunity around you. But sometimes, if something does not go to plan it forces you to sit back and evaluate things, potentially noticing new routes and paths in life that you may have otherwise not seen. It can also allow you to potentially realize what aspects of life are truly meaningful to you.

And, while even if setbacks bring difficulties and are often very painful. If you learn and are able to dust yourself off and pick yourself up out of the dirt. You will often not end up just going back to the way things where, you can often end up coming back even stronger. Knowing that despite everything, you are strong enough to get back up and keep moving forward, no matter what may come your way.

After all, as setbacks are inevitable in life. It is not the setbacks that define you, it is how you choose to react to them.
