For most of us, the last year has been a difficult one. A year no one could have predicted, a year full of chaos and unrest for many a reason. The difficulties caused by 2020, have manifested in making it difficult to maintain those all-important tight-knit bonds that hold our communities and families together. The difficulties may have impacted our health, through illness or lack of exercise. Additionally, there have been great mental difficulties, isolation and loneliness can be killers, so can the sheer anxiety that can arise from a year going off the rails in such a fashion.
However, despite the challenges of 2020, it is of the utmost importance that we do not write of 2021 already. There are many issues with doing so, first of all, it starts a self-fulling prophecy in our minds, one that greatly increases the chance of the coming year being miserable. It is important to always have hope, to always have faith that no matter how damned hard things can get, that you can pull through and succeed regardless.
Of course, this does not mean that we can just sit around idly for good things to come our way in the coming year. No, we must seize them, making the most of any and all opportunities.
The way 2021 will be a great year, is if we make it one.
This means we must do all we can to keep in touch with those we care about. That we must do all we can to build ourselves back up, stronger and wiser. We must work to prevent the damages from spreading and to uplift others teetering on the edge of complete despair. We must try to make full use of every little moment and we must work to see the light and goodness in the world, especially when it can sometimes look so bleak.
We should use this year as a call to action, if we do so it shall indeed be a great year. Regardless of what the tides of fortune may bring, we will weather the storm. We shall emerge from it with our heads held high and our backs straight. As we will know that if we can overcome the tremendous adversity that the last year has brought, that nothing, nothing will ever be able to stand in our way.
